Name Writing Activities
Simply put, one’s own name is a person’s identity. Name activities in a classroom adds to that identity by making one feel important!
Name writing, name spelling, and other activities that features names have so many cognitive benefits! Children who are in the early stages of literacy development are well served if they are familiarized with the letters that make up their own name. This will not only provide an important link between speech and print, it will help them attend to sequencing, orientation and details within the construction of a word.
Reading and spelling the names of classmates expands upon the benefits. It not only deepens alphabet knowledge, concept of print, and letter sequencing, but it builds community!
Our name activities unit is filled with 20 plus fun — developmentally appropriate activities that you and your students will love!
